FAQs:

Q: Do I need a prescription from my doctor?

A: No, NY is a direct access state which allows for a patient to have physical therapy without a prescription from their doctor.

Q: What is the difference between In-Network and Out-of-Network?

A: The difference between an In-Network and Out-of-Network provider is that an In-Network provider is contracted with a particular insurance provider (BlueCross BlueShield, Aetna, United Healthcare, Emblem, etc.) and is paid a set rate (usually lower than the average rate of the service billed/provided via statistical websites such as www.FairHealthConsumer.org) with a benefit of having a large network that they are a part of in order to have more patients come to their office. These In-Network offices rely on high patient volume with overbooked slots, long wait times, and lower quality care. Smaller offices with less patient volume and higher quality care opt to go Out-of-Network.

Q: What is a deductible?

A: It is a barrier to entry to receive a health-related service that the insurance holder pays for and should have access to but cannot. A deductible is also a barrier for the provider because they will NOT receive any compensation or payment for their billed services if the patient’s deductible is not yet met. For example: if a patient’s plan has a $3000 yearly deductible and they see a provider who bills their insurance $300 for that visit, the deductible is now $2700 and none of that money goes towards the provider and hence why the patient still has to pay out of pocket for his/her visit otherwise, the provider will make $0 for that visit.

Q: Why don’t you take my insurance?

A: As an Out-of-Network provider, I will not be reimbursed/paid for services rendered if the patient does not have Out-of-Network benefits so I would gladly take any insurance but I cannot because there will be no payment from the insurance company so in reality, it is not the provider who chooses not to take a particular insurance, it is a matter of will the provider even be paid by that insurance.

Q: What insurances do you not accept?

A: Fidelis, Emblem Health, NYSHIP, Health First, MetroPlus, and ANY EPO or In-Network plans regardless of insurance carrier.

About Me:

My name is Richard Lee and I am very passionate about what I do both in my professional field as well as the personal activities that keep me living a healthy lifestyle. My journey began during middle school and high school where I was overweight, sedentary, and had extremely low self-esteem. I decided to change my life and began lifting weights at the gym after school every day. This eventually led me into a variety of sports and interests including weight lifting, nutritional science, wrestling, jiu-jitsu, mixed martial arts, hiking, snowboarding/skiing, kayaking, paddleboarding, calisthenics, running, and rock climbing.

I am a graduate of Stony Brook University where I earned both my Bachelors in Biology in 2012 and Doctorate in the DPT program in 2016. I have practiced in a variety of settings to challenge myself including: Pediatrics (Half Hollow Hills School district and per diem work in Westchester County), Home care (Westchester County and Long Island), Neurology (Burke Rehabilitation Hospital in White Plains, NY), and various outpatient Orthopedic clinics in Manhattan and Queens, NY.

I was tired of working in settings where I could not provide the direct one on one patient focused care that I was passionate about and was always stifled by the facility’s management with limited time which reflected a poor quality of care. I decided to venture out on my own in 2020 at the peak of the Covid-19 era pandemic in a sink or swim gambit.

My small private office allows me to provide one-on-one attention and develop a strong therapeutic relationship with my patients centered around their care. I believe in the power of collaboration and communication, so I take the time to truly listen to my patients and understand their unique goals and challenges. I am the sole proprietor of my office and will give you the utmost attention and quality that other clinics cannot; do not be fooled by other offices that claim to give “One-on-one” care as their waiting rooms and floor space is packed with patients waiting to be seen, being passed off to exercise stations with a hapless and underpaid aide as their only guidance.
